The Special Forces curse clearly states, the more space you have, the more stuff you’ll pack. But, sometimes you need more stuff, and fit matters. The 21L GR1® is 18" tall and the 26L GR1® is 20" tall. The classic 21L GR1® fits all shapes and sizes. If you’re ~6’+ and/or want 5 additional liters and 2” of additional height, go with the larger 26L. When moving through airports, commuting, or rucking, the goal is for your ruck to be high on your back. No matter how tall you are, the 21L will rest 2” higher than the 26L.

If you're the kind of person who prides yourself in minimalist packing, go with the 21L. If you like more space and always carry more stuff, go with the 26L.

FROM BAGHDAD TO NYC

GR1 — built to thrive in Baghdad and NYC — has proven itself the world over including at thousands of GORUCK Events as the greatest rucksack ever built. That’s why any change, any modification of any kind is a huge deal to us, requiring extensive testing and a strong why. In this case, four years of testing a new fabric (210D CORDURA® ) for the back panel.

We have used this fabric on the Rucker’s back panel since 2020, we see no failure through our Scars Lifetime Guarantee Department — but we see a lot of upside. It’s more versatile to wear with travel shirts like Merino Wool or tank-tops. Hell, you can even wear it shirtless if that’s your thing. After all of this data and usage of 210D on the back panel and under the straps, we have now updated GR1 — our flagship rucksack, Built in the USA — and this is our first significant update to GR1. You’re going to like it better because it’s even more versatile now, no matter how you plan to use it. And we hope you use it hard, and all over the world.

Proven to Special Forces standards, GR1 is synonymous with the best of American Manufacturing. Each GR1 is built to last and comes with our Scars Lifetime Guarantee.

Padded laptop compartment

The separate compartment next to your back is extra reinforced to securely take a laptop into combat.

Zero Abrasion on Fabric & Skin

It has taken us over a decade to find a way to make the best rucksack of all time, GR1, even better. We added all-new 210D HT (High Tenacity) CORDURA® on the back panel and underside of the shoulder straps that doesn't irritate skin or chew up apparel (looking at you, merino wool).

GR1 EXPLAINED

GR1 ORIGINS

Baghdad x NYC

I was living on my buddy’s couch in NYC with all my deployment gear, trying to figure out how to transition from the military world I missed to the civilian world I was in. I poured my heart into what became GR1 because it felt like I was building a bridge I desperately needed to cross in my life. To honor my roots but still look forward.
