Elite athletes had the option of testing out prototype Rough Runner™ at the 2023 GORUCK Games.
This massive wear test gave us valuable insights into how the shoes performed and allowed us to make significant improvements to the final product.
No Marshmallow Midsole
Other running shoes are designed to feel good when you first try them on, but those marshmallow clouds flatten over time and distance — especially when moving with weight (ruck weight or body weight).
Our custom Gradient Density™ EVA midsole is uniquely formulated to maintain a balance of cushioning, rebound and 3X Support™ over the long haul.
The Original Rough Runner
Before he was a Rough Rider in the first volunteer cavalry of the Spanish-American War, Teddy Roosevelt was a Rough Runner. Turns out the 26th president of the United States pretty much invented jogging. He exercised regularly and put in the work to become a healthy, active outdoorsman. That’s why we named our premiere running shoe in honor of him and the strenuous life he championed.

According to twenty-one studies reporting musculoskeletal injury data in Special Operations Forces, physical training accounts for 80% of injuries. Running and lifting were the most common injury mechanisms with the ankle, knee and lumbar spine as the most common body parts affected.
